City of Cypress, (Orange County) near the
Long Beach city limits, Placed by Don & Gwen on August 6, 2002.
This location is open on Tuesday and Thursdays from
1 to 4 and on Saturday from 10-2. No dogs and no fee. If you are
boxing in Long Beach area this box is a real quick like a bunny one to add to
your book as the hike is very short.
Wardlow Road in Long Beach changes to Ball Road in Orange County. The
Nature Center is on Ball Road and Via Largo, Cypress.
From the single entrance take the north bound
path as far as you can, then turn east at the fence line and walk about 55 paces
to Bob Cat Trail marker. This parallel trail goes down, up, down and up to
the main trail. Follow the horizontal retaining logs to the very last one
before the trail rejoins the main trail. At this last log (the eastern
most edge of Bob Cat trail), note the 2 upright logs, (1 shorter than the other)
holding the horizontal log in place. At the eastern edge of the smaller
upright log look in the cavity created where the upright and horizontal logs
almost join. Probe under the leaves with a stick. You are looking
for a small black cylinder.
